Today we will explain you step by step how to make the famous Pinã Colada!  

THE HISTORY OF THE PINÃ COLADA

It evokes summer with this clever blend of Pineapple and Coconut flavors. Did you guess? The Pinã Colada of course! But what is the history of this cocktail? The Pinã Colada would be the creation of a famous bartender from San Juan, Puerto Rico. It all started in 1954 with Ramon Monchito Marrero, Bar Man at the Hilton Hotel in San Juan. The goal was to restore all the flavors of Puerto Rico in a single cocktail. It is finally on August 15, 1954, after many tests, many mixtures dosages etc. that Ramon presents his cocktail called Pinã Colada. There are many versions of the story including that of a pirate who to motivate his troops would have developed a cocktail based on coconut and pineapple, however nothing says that these stories are real. In any case, this cocktail would have been lost at the same time as the captain of this ship.

Today the Pinã Colada is a must-have for summer vacations, this cocktail has since met a worldwide success and is available in Virgin (without alcohol) and Royal versions with fresh cream. Today we are going to present you the original recipe of the Pinã Colada that we prepare at Movida.

 

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1cl of white rum
  • 4cl of Amber Rum
  • Preparation of homemade coconut milk:
  • 8cl coconut cream concentrate and 10cl pineapple juice.

RECIPE STEPS:

  • In a blender pour all the ingredients with ice cubes.
  • Shake with energy.
  • It's ready. Pour into the glass of your choice and decorate your cocktail with a dried pineapple and a mint head.
