But above all, we went in search of the inventor of this dish. Was it Italian? Was it French? Where does Caesar salad come from? We tell you all!

THE HISTORY OF CAESAR SALAD

Many believe that this mythical salad has its origins in the Roman Emperor, Jules Caesar. This is in fact not the case. The inventor of the Caesar salad is an Italian cook, Caesar Cardini, who left with his brother Alex to the United States following the First World War, and who is in fact at the origin of this salad. In order to circumvent prohibition and to continue to welcome partygoers, the two brothers opened a restaurant in Tijuana. On July 4, 1924, it was the American Independence Day and Caesar Cardini's restaurant was full of customers. Lacking ingredients, the chef improvised a salad at the last minute with what he had on hand: romaine, parmesan cheese, croutons...this is how the Ceasar (or Caesar) salad was created! There are other legends surrounding this famous recipe such as that of Giacomo Junia. Giacomo is an Italian chef who named the salad after the most famous Italian: Jules Caesar. However, the Cardini family patented the recipe for Caesar sauce in 1948. However, Caesar salad is now served on every table and has become a must-have dish of the summer. Refreshing and tasty, the Caesar salad will delight your taste buds around a restaurant table or directly at home.

 

INGREDIENTS:

  • Roman salad.
  • Croutons.
  • Parmesan cheese.
  • Breaded chicken.
  • Cherry tomatoes.
  • Caesar sauce.
  • Bacon.

RECIPE STEPS:

  • Place romaine lettuce, croutons, Parmesan cheese and Caesar dressing in a salad bowl.
  • Separately, cook the breaded chicken in a deep fryer.
  • Put the mixture from the bowl on a plate and add the cherry tomatoes.
  • After cooking, cut the breaded chicken and place it on the bed of salad.
  • Add a little more Caesar sauce and Parmesan cheese.
  • Add the slice of grilled bacon.
  • Mix and enjoy
